If you are a foreigner who will relocate to Singapore for employment, setting up of business, undergoing training or short term professional assignments, we are here to help you in applying the employment pass (EP).

Work Pass

  • Determine the eligibility by using MOM self-assessment tools
  • Pre-application information and advice on Work Pass
  • Filing of Work Pass application
  • Follow up Work Pass application status while under processing
  • Liaising with MOM officer in charge wherever it is necessary
  • Responding to MOM’s request for additional information if required
  • Arranging for issuance of Work Pass upon in-principle approval
  • Filing of maximum of 2 appeals within 3 months from the date of rejection as per MOM’s guideline in case of rejection of Work Pass application.

Additional fee shall apply for renewal of employment pass – appeal submission. The fee shall vary, depending on the complexity and scope of work.

Eligibility Criteria and Requirements for EP

The Employment Pass is for foreign professionals who have the job offer by a Singapore-based company. Below are the EP criteria that need to fulfill by both a foreign employee and a Singaporean employer.

Requirements for the employer:

  • Employee must be offered a job by a well-established Singapore-based company (its paid-up capital must prove its ability to pay this foreign employee the declared salary).
  • For those companies having more than 25 employees, they must advertise the job vacancy on Singapore Jobs Bank for at least 2 weeks to ensure that the Singaporeans are given a chance to be considered for this job before the employer prefers a foreign talent. The employer will have to substantiate this preference.

Requirements for the employee:

  • Current salary threshold for the Employment Pass is S$3,300 a month. From 1 Jan 2017, the salary threshold will increase to S$3,600 a month. (older employees must commensurate higher salaries).
  • Acceptable educational qualifications, e.g.a diploma or degree.
  • Professional qualifications
  • Specialist skills
  • Related work experience

The above serves as general guideline only and the EP application is still at the discretion of the Ministry of Manpower. Successful applicants may bring in their families, and whether a specific family member is eligible will depend on the salary threshold of the EP-holder:

For other type of family members (such as common-law spouse, unmarried handicapped children above 21 years old, and unmarried step-children under 21 years old), EP-holders with a minimum fixed monthly salary of $5,000 may apply the Long-Term Visit Pass. For parents of the EP-holder, the EP-holder must earns a minimum fixed monthly salary of S$10,000 for applying the Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP). Similar to the DP, the Long-Term Visit Pass (LTVP) application(s) can be submitted at any time after the EP application is approved. The expiry date of the LTVP(s) will be tied to the expiry of EP.
